Dec 27, 2024 · Buick originally used Stainless steel caped lug nuts in that year, I recall struggling with those when I was a young whippersnapper working on my Dad's 74 LeSabre Luxus. The Stainless cap nuts sucked. I agree that Mitch R's lug nuts are very nice, they were the only ones to use doing a nice restoration, I had several sets pass thru my hands. JW

Nov 8, 2024 · My folks had a 74 Lesabre Luxus, and if I recall correctly, the glove box is up near the center of the dash, between the AC vents, instead of down in the metal part of the dash like the 68-72 GS cars. I though that 71-74 was the year range too, but my customer corrected me.. is there possibly some model of 74 with the 71-73 dash configuration?

Nov 17, 2014 · Got another identification question for the experts out there. I have a 74 Lesabre and the following information in on the trans: On a boss on the drivers side: 43H558486 On a plate riveted on the pass side: 73 BC 242309 I believe the trans is a 73, but the thing is painted blue not red which is throwing me (as is the engine).

Mar 8, 2019 · My '74 LeSabre has a two-piece fiberglass parade boot for the convertible top. It slips under the chrome molding at the rear of the seat and is held in front by two Dzus style fasteners in the plastic trim pieces on each side of the seat. Was this a factory option? There doesn't seem to be any provision for a soft boot.

Jul 18, 2023 · My 74 Lesabre with a 455 has developed a pretty bad rear main leak. So bad there is not an oil stain, but an oil puddle under the car. I've not changed one before although I'm not intimdated by the job. I'm looking for advice on the best way to approach this. I was thinking I'd drop the trans and lift the engine as needed to get the job done.
