Oct 14, 2009 · The 6.5x284's that i have worked on have shot really well with the 140 VLDs. One is using 52.0 grains of H4831 SC, Win LR primers and .030" off the lands. Another is using 58.0 grain of Retumbo(the weighed charge from a round out of that one brand), CCI BR-2 primers, and .030" off the lands (.220" 3 shot group at 100 yards).

Apr 28, 2017 · I have done quite a bit if work, owning a few 6.5x284's over the years and most recently built one with a Bartlein barrel, 1;8 twist, 26", Sendaro/Varmint contour. Some observations and answers to your questions:-The difference between Fed 210M and Fed215M primers is about 40FPS. This equates to .5-1 grain of powder.

May 5, 2015 · My pet hunting load for several years in my 6.5x284 rifles is 58gr Retumbo, Fed210M, Lapua brass, and 140gr VLD's seated .025-.075" off the lands depending on the particular rifle. This load generates 2975FPS, very low ES, generally less then 12FPS. It is temperature stable, and produces low pressures giving me at least 10 reloads/case.

Oct 31, 2009 · I have a Savage LRH in 6.5x284 with a serious free bore issue. After a year(as time permitted) of trying to develop a load, I am pretty sure it's never going to happen. My options are to remove the stock barrel and fix the free bore issue or simply get a new barrel.

Nov 8, 2012 · The 6.5x284 Norma has a .264 bullet (it's a 6.5mm). They are different size bullets (and the Norma specifies a longer overall length). If you were building a modern .284 Winchester on a bolt action, there would be no reason to set the COAL so short, unless you really wanted to keep it short to fit a short magazine.
