The 6th Air Refueling Wing is comprised of the 6th Operations Group, the 6th Maintenance Group, the 6th Mission Support Group and the 6th Medical Group. In addition to the 6th Air Refueling Wing, MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, is also home to 28 mission partners, including U.S. Central Command and U.S. Special Operations Command.

MacDill AFB is located in Tampa, Florida. The host wing is the 6th Air Mobility Wing of the Air Mobility Command's 18th Air Force. The wing is responsible for KC-135R Stratotanker and C-37A Gulfstream operations.

It is a force capable of rapidly projecting air refueling power anywhere in the world. The 6 ARW is organized into four unique groups and three operational flying squadrons to carry out its mission to be provide air refueling, airlift, and air base support.
