5SFE vs. 3SFE?? What's the difference? - MR2 Owners Club Forum
Jun 2, 2009 · The 5sfe is the standard n/a engine that sold in MKII MR2's in the United States. IIRC, there were a few early '91's that had the 3sfe here, but very few. The 3sfe was also sold in England. The probability is very high that you have the 5sfe since yours is a '92.
Getting power from a 5SFE without forced induction
Jun 29, 2008 · Probably 150-180rwhp depending on what other supporting mods are done. The highest on record 5SFEs fall somewhere in between Mild and Performance because they had the fuel control but only mild cams. A 150rwhp or higher 5SFE should be able to be built for for less then $2000 if you find the right deals and install everything yourself. (Bare ...

5S-FE Tuning...without blowing up the engine - Toyota Nation Forum
Sep 27, 2011 · But 5sfe's, especially rev2s, work really well with piggybacks when running NA. If you choose to turbo in the future make sure you focus on the tuning aspects the most. A piggyback can be used in this case too but is not as flexible as a full programmable engine management system.
Rebuilding the 5SFE - Toyota Nation Forum
Jan 26, 2017 · The 5SFE leaks oil and in a month's time, it's very low on oil. Most people don't check the oil level regularly and that caused the lubrication issue leading to engine quality degradation. So are most people just buying 5SFEs from the yard and slapping them on and returning the old one for the core? :nerd:
