The United States Armed Forces has created a plethora of different types of 40 mm grenades in both the low-velocity 40×46 mm and high-velocity 40×53 mm calibers which uses what it calls a high-low propulsion system which keeps recoil forces within the boundaries of an infantry weapon. 40×53 mm HV (high velocity) [2] is a NATO-standard [3] high–low grenade launcher cartridge meant for mounted or crew-served automatic grenade launchers, such as the Mk.19 AGL, Mk 47 Striker, HK GMG, STK 40 AGL, and Daewoo K4.

The M430A1 HEDP 40mm Grenade is the High Velocity Grenade of choice for our Warfighters using the MK19 and MK47 Automatic Grenade Launchers. The Grenade consists of the M169 Aluminum Cartridge Case, M549A1 AMTEC Point Detonating Fuze, Copper Liner, Warhead Body with Fragmentation and CompA5 Explosive.

M430A1 HEDP HV. The M430A1 is a high explosive dual purpose tactical 40mm cartridge. It contains a pre-fragmented steel projectile body and armor penetrating shaped charge liner. It can be fired from all MK19 type automatic grenade launchers.
