Dec 26, 2016 · Garmin 106A vs KI-206? I am doing a Garmin 430W install on my ARC panel C172. Time to make things a bit more modern! I was able to obtain a KI 206 for $1035 (with 8130 form), and typical 106A's go for around $1500-1700. I am able to get one for $1450 shipped, but question whether the difference in price is even justifiable or worthy?

Five volt bezel lighting is offered with the MD200-202(5V), -203(5V), -206(5V), 207(5V) indicators. Cat. M and N. 15 G Crash Safety. Electrical zero: 300 degrees, ORZ. Input impedance: 1K ohms +-10%. Deflection sensitivity: 150mV +-10% for full scale deflection.

The KI-206 is the best current production King GPS/VOR/LOC/Glideslope Indicator. It has rectilinear meter movements, instead of pendulum, which makes it easier to read. This is especially nice when flying an ILS, since the needles stay perpendicular to each other.

Use the KI 206 with the KNS 80 NAV/RNAV/DME/glideslope, KNS 81 NAV/RNAV/glideslope, KX 165 NAV/COMM, and the KNR 634 VOR/LOC/GS/MB Receiver (at 400 Hz). Works well with the remote mounted KN 73 or KN 75 glideslope receivers, as well as the KN 72 and KN 77 remote mounted VOR/LOC converters.

The KI 206 VOR/LOC/Glideslope Indicator is rectilinear and internally lighted. It is used with the KNS 80/81 and KX 165 and, at 400 Hz, the KNR 634 VOR/LOC/GS/MB Receiver. It is available with course datum synchro. TSO'd.
