Previous instructor at the 17E schoolhouse here. As mentioned, 17E is NOT an IT MOS, however you have the potential to gain a tad of IT knowledge. It is an Electronic Warfare specialist MOS, so you will be dealing with the electromagnetic spectrum and RF technology.

Feb 3, 2023 · It’s a freaking awesome MOS. I don’t have direct hands on with equipment but Im a 17B and get watch my soldiers use it on the daily. Highly recommend if you wanna do cool Army stuff but yet also have a secured future after the Army with variety of training you get.

May 27, 2022 · TLDR: Just get a signal MOS because you will be in AIT for a shorter period of time and not waste a considerable amount of money for 0 return. Also, a relevant degree, signal MOS, and performance should get you a signal officer slot easily.

Our MOS, or at least the Army’s vision of how we should operate is very new, so hardly anyone will understand what the hell we do, for better or worse. I hate that I can’t really give you a solid look at typical EW life, as it is literally luck of the draw for what unit you go to.

I've looked in Army regulations, DoD regulations and I came across the Housing Flexibility Act and even dug into 37 USC 403: Basic allowance for housing. Both have excerpts in them stating retention of the BAH rate for the old/losing installation is possible, especially for circumstances such as the 17C MOS training curriculum.

Sep 25, 2018 · On 1 October 2018, Soldiers in all components serving in MOS 29E, Electronic Warfare Specialist, will be re-designated as MOS 17E, Electronic Warfare Specialist. Career Management Field (CMF) 29, Electronic Warfare, and MOS 29E will be deleted. On 1 October 2018, all Soldiers classified as MOS 29E will be reclassified to MOS 17E.
