If gamers/enthusiast are looking for a 3090 alternative then yes, the 3080 Ti is the better option. However, the same cannot be said about between the 3080 Ti and 3080.

The GPU costs already 699 MSRP, having a model whith no backplate with the MSRP price and 2 others with backplates on and 20ish pounds price difference between them will not save the buyer from braking the bank. It is year 2020 and the model is RTX 3080, not 3050, or 3060.

The 3080 12gb has more cuda cores unlocked, and has more memory, making it more valuable overall. maybe I watched the wrong tests, but there was a difference on 1-3 fps on games, less than 3070 - 3070 ti had to justify a 50% price increase for 2% gains

May 9, 2022 · As for the topic at hand, sure there will be a little bit of CPU bottlenecking at only 1080p with a RTX 3080 Ti, this will also be the case with even a 12900K when paired with a RTX 3080 Ti. The whole ampere architecture just isn't really geared at lower resolution rendering efficiency in the higher range of cards.
