
LMS Compound 4-4-0 - Wikipedia
The London, Midland and Scottish Railway Compound 4-4-0 was a class of steam locomotive designed for passenger work. [1] One hundred and ninety five engines were built by the LMS, adding to the 45 Midland Railway 1000 Class, to which they were almost identical.

The LNER therefore treated them all as a single class, 'D41'. The first locomotive was withdrawn in 1946, but 22 locomotives passed into British Railways ownership in 1948. BR renumbered them by adding 60000 to their 1946 LNER number. The last locomotive was withdrawn in 1953, and all have been scrapped.
