Saint Maud is a gem, imo. Very original take on a familiar narrative in religious history & literature. The stuff about ecstatic religious experience reminded me a bit of Breaking the Waves, but the story is completely different. Glad you enjoyed it!

May 22, 2021 · I thought Saint Maud was great. It's a great, slow-paced, character study and Morfydd Clark deserves recognition for her great work. Personally, my first thought when watching the film was that it was a story similar to Frailty, playing with mental illness vs the protagonists really being chosen by God.

Right at the beginning, the departing nurse greets Maud at Amanda’s door, and when Maud asks how the patient (Amanda) is, the departing nurse says “bit of a cunt.” The signs were all there for Maud to see.
