Aug 22, 2023 · I‘m pretty sure it is a H. pomatia because of the skin texture. And the house also has the typical brownish color without any markings. Also it looks like its a young snail, so make sure to give enough calcium so it can grow nicely.

Nov 13, 2020 · Hi snailers!! I’ve ordered my helix pomatia and am super excited! However, i’ve heard contrasting things on what to feed. Some say yes to cucumbers and lettuce. Some say no it has no nutrition value therefore won’t be good for your snail. I want to provide the best care. Any thoughts or personal preferences would be greatly appreciated (:

Nov 12, 2020 · Helix pomatia are notoriously impossible to obtain in the US. Although they are legal, there are close to zero responsible, reputable breeders. Plus if you did find someone they would have to be in your state since its illegal to transport them across state lines.

They didn’t have a tank heater and the temp was getting down to 68 so I am thinking they were getting on the colder side. I have since purchased a tank heater with a thermostat. Mar 27, 2024 · Pomatia are larger and have typically lighter colored shells which are uniform, while lucorum shells are usually darker and have striped patterns that pomatia do not. If you look up pictures of these snails you can see the difference in shell appearance.

Jul 11, 2023 · Helix pomatia are extremely hard to obtain in the US, and in most states they simply are not available at all. I'm not there and I've personally never purchased them in the US, but I would absolutely believe that $150 for 2 snails is the going rate.
