Electric flux through hemisphere - Physics Stack Exchange
Aug 30, 2020 · The electric flux through the curved surface area of a hemisphere of radius R when it is placed in a uniform electric field is? Before this, I was taught the definition of flux as the number of field lines passing perpendicularly through an area.
How can electric flux be negative? - Physics Stack Exchange
Apr 24, 2020 · If electric flux is the number of field lines, then how can it be negative?
Why is the net flux through a closed surface equal to zero?
Jun 12, 2020 · So if we calculate flux then it would be non zero but it contradicts with the fact that electric field through closed surface enclosing no charge is 0.
Electric Flux - What is the point? - Physics Stack Exchange
May 16, 2020 · Electric flux is a defined quantity that is proportional to the no. of field lines passing through a given area element for a given electric field. It is not proportional to the relative density of field lines, which would supply information …
electrostatics - What is Electric flux? - Physics Stack Exchange
Jan 28, 2025 · Can anyone explain about electric flux, like electric flux for dummies. (I am just learning electricity and magnetism and couldn't understand electric flux)
Electric Flux through the Face of a Cube - Physics Forums
Jun 24, 2018 · Homework Equations Gauss' Law, [/B] The Attempt at a Solution It seems reasonable that the flux through the shaded surface and the front face of the cube are equal. I don't see any reason for them to be different. Assuming that they are equal, we should have that the flux through the front face added with the flux through the shaded face is , as the flux …
Why does electric flux have 'cos θ' in its formula? - Physics Forums
Mar 7, 2015 · To find the flux through a surface you need the component of the field perpendicular to the surface. Taking that component involves the cosine of the angle between the field and the normal to the surface.
Flux through side of a cube - Physics Stack Exchange
I am looking at Griffiths introduction to Electrodynamics 3rd ED. Problem 2.10 asks for the flux of E E through the right face of the cube, when a charge q q is in the back left corner of the cube. The solution manual says it should be q 24ϵ0 q 24 ϵ 0 but I think it should be q 6ϵ0 q 6 ϵ 0 because each side should experience the same flux, and the face of the cube represents 1/6th …
electricity - Trouble understanding Electric flux and gauss law ...
Jul 15, 2016 · Gauss law states that the electic flux in any closed surface equals the charge enclosed in it divided by epsilon zero. I understood its derivation using a sphere but i didnt understand (3) how the integral or the flux is always the same independent on the shape and size of any shape?is there a proof or something plus a logical explanation?
electricity - Why is Electric field flux through a closed surface in ...
Apr 6, 2016 · The electric filed is a special type of a vector which has a non-zero divergence if there is some non-zero charge. The electric flux will be zero only if there is no charge enclosing that surface. However if you place an uncharged sphere in a uniform electric filed, the sphere develops induced charges.
