Oct 15, 2021 · I had a Tallboy 4 and just purchased a Blur 4. Even though they have similar travel numbers, these are very different bikes. Blur is much lighter and pedals a lot better. Downhill the Blur 4 is good but has a different feel. The Tallboy feels like my Megatower but with just a bit less squish, the Blur 4 is a true XC bike.
Tallboy vs Top Fuel, which is more fun/poppy??? - Mountain Bike …
Jan 23, 2024 · With that said, I have been getting more and more PRs with the Tallboy on climbs. My Tallboy is also almost 2 lbs lighter so not sure if that has anything to do with it. The Tallboy feels more playful/fun/poppy but still pedals great. Honesty, the Tallboy set to high and top fuel set to low feel almost identical to me.
Tallboy size question - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Dec 12, 2017 · I am in the same situation. Looking to get a Tallboy and I am 5'10" with a 30 inseam. Test rode both the large and medium Tallboy. Right off the bat the medium felt better (maybe a touch cramped) like I had more control with it, but the large wasn't bad (but felt a little stretched). That was in a parking lot though.
Santa Cruz Tallboy LTc and LT 29er All Mountain Bike
On April 1, 2012, Santa Cruz builds on the success of their full suspension 29er Tallboy with their entry into the all mountain 29er category. Two bikes are being introduced, the LTc carbon bike and the LT aluminum bike. The Tallboy LTc bike is significant for being the first appearance of full carbon in this fairly young category.
Tallboy vs 429? - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Nov 2, 2023 · The downs even with the 36, the Tallboy excelled over the 429. Climbs is where it was kind of a draw depending on type of climb. Fireroad/chill climb 429 felt better. Technical the Tallboy was able to get more traction and firm up over things. My buddy who owned the 429 loved my Tallboy, he was grinning after bombing down a tech section.
Tallboy 3 - fork travel discussion - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Feb 26, 2018 · Yep very much aware of the general effects of a longer fork. Just wondered how the Tallboy specifically responded to 140mm forks. My Pikes are 51mm offset. Size XL frame. I don't like a particularly high or low front end but the head tube is shorter than my current bike. I'm going to stick them on at 140mm initially and see how it feels.
Tallboy 2 Owners Thread - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Aug 23, 2013 · Didn't see a thread for the new Tallboy, so I thought I would go ahead and create one. Waiting on mine, Matte blck/white carbon SPX XC but replacing the WTB rims with Spez Roval Control Carbons. Received a Large TB2c at my shop yesterday with the XO 1 kit. Weight was an impressive 24.16 w/o...
Tallboy 5 - Discussion points | Page 21 - Mountain Bike Reviews …
Oct 29, 2013 · The tallboy always has been an inbetween or as close to a do it all bike. The only downhill bike at an XC event, the only XC bike in the bike park. It was less suited for either than the best single purpose bike, but gave great smiles to both the rider and the public I think.
2020 Hightower 2 vs 2020 Tallboy 4 - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Aug 21, 2019 · If you want planted and stable, go Hightower. If you want lively and exciting, go Tallboy. . . . Finally, for those who might feel that the Tallboy has evolved too far in the trail bike direction for their tastes, Santa Cruz offers the Blur TR, which is essentially a lighter weight, more refined version of the Tallboy 3."
Tallboy vs. Tallboy LT - Mountain Bike Reviews Forum
Apr 5, 2012 · The Tallboy is stiffer and handles quicker, but I expect the Tallboy LT to be very stiff too (it has the thru-axle rear and stiff carbon construction). I am considering the Tallboy LT, but still thinking that I probably don't need more travel than my Tallboy's 120mm front/100mm rear.
