Aug 9, 2017 · The family Lumbricidae is arguably the most well-known and well-studied earthworm group due to its dominance in the European earthworm fauna and its invasion in temperate regions worldwide. However, its North American members, especially the genus Bimastos Moore, 1893, are poorly understood.

They are terrestrial invertebrates, eating a variety of organic matter, and all 31 of the terrestrial species found in the British Isles are in the family Lumbricidae - apart from one North American species with two unverified records from south-east England.
