Mar 22, 2008 · Shortly after making this thread I sold the camo canoe and replaced it with a sportspal x-13 scanoe. I outfitted the scanoe with a used 2 hp honda outboard( 4 stroke with air cooled motor and water cooled exhaust) that is the lightest in its class at 27 lbs. The new canoe is also 40lbs lighter than the camo one since it is aluminium.

Dec 14, 2010 · I tried what you are planning years ago. 17' square stern fiberglass canoe with a 2hp outboard. I got it specifically to fish B&R and LHL. The wind was the biggest enemy, there is no way I could get that damn thing to drift worth a damn, always tended to spin, even with a drift sock at each end.

Nov 4, 2015 · A wide canoe paddles poorly so plan on using a trolling motor or a small outboard. This one is rated for up to 5hp but I think a 2 or 2.5 would be just perfect.
