A year later, Jacksonville returned to the race schedule, and Harnett County Speedway was closed soon afterward. NASCAR returned to the area in 1957 and '58, running at Fayetteville's Champion Speedway. New owners sold shares in the Harnett County Speedway, cleaned up the track and ran short-track races in the late 1960s and early '70s.

1990 aerial photo of Moyock, NC's "Dog Track Speedway". Parking lot, grandstand area, and .33 mile race track are plainly visible. The speedway lies about .25 mile south of the NC/VA boarder.

Johnson City, TN's historic Sportsman Speedway no longer exists, being replaced by a bowling alley. Judging by the shape and curvature of the adjacent street, this orientation could depict the track's original lay-out.

Beautiful aerial photograph/postcard of Starlite Speedway, courtesy of Steve Swanson. The walled 4/10 mile oval and grandstands are easily visible. The speedway operated from 1960 until 1978. Located off of US Hwy 74 between Charlotte and Monroe, NC, the speedway was demolished in 1985, a victim of growth, developement, and a tragedy.

Although barely visible, the footprint of the former Columbus, GA Speedway is still visible off of Blackmon Road.
