scRGB is the only way to make use of signals with more than 10-bpc. Setting the desktop to 12-bpc and expecting HDR to make use of those extra bits is folly unless a game has scRGB support. Oct 21, 2024 · There are some issues with scRGB in the game, currently, in that frame generation doesn't work when using it. HDR10 PQ works fine. scRGB is supposed to be better, using a bit more colours (I think? ...or something else technobabblish), but also more VRAM, which is apparently why frame generation is struggling with it.

Dec 10, 2020 · *HDR mode: HDR10 scRGB is better and more accurate as it uses 16bit precision to calculate the HDR parameters but is slightly heavier on the GPU. Most people should use this setting, unless you're really struggling for performance then use HDR10PQ as it slightly less resource intensive.

Oct 28, 2022 · Funny enough, scRGB supports negative colors, if you were wondering what the remaining 1-bit was for :) Thanks for that, I really just wanted to point out how absurd it would be to have 16bit color and sacrifice performance to achieve it. Also, I wonder if scRGB is sRGB, which appears to be synonymous with 8bit with dithering.
