LSU Ag Center has a set of pirogue plans! - SouthernPaddler.com
Mar 12, 2008 · The plans call for two 10" sides and a 24" bottom to be cut out of the center a 48" wide piece of plywood. Two 10's and a 24 is only 44" so they're allowing you 2 inches of slop in your cutout. If you can't cut closer to the line than 2 inches, then maybe you need some practice before starting to build a boat.
Built a pirogue, now on to bigger plans | SouthernPaddler.com
Apr 23, 2020 · The cajun secret pirogue plans called for running boards for the same purpose but the 3/8' okoume was substantial enough. I think we are leaning towards using the lightest, thinnest ply that we can get away with since we navigate waters that dont have that many rocks or hard objects to hit. Not to mention, we won't be traveling very fast either.

Q re Pirogue Sides - SouthernPaddler.com
Aug 20, 2014 · The sides are 10" like the JEM plans call for. I made my bottom rail 1.5" wide and the top 1" wide. If I had to do it again I would find some clear cedar trim boards 10-12 ft.x6" and scarf them together then lay out the bottom rail the proper way …
Building a square stern pirogue strip, stitch and glue
Mar 19, 2023 · Our next step is to make cardboard patterns of each panel for the stitch and glue boat. This will include converting the paper plan measurements into the shape of the various panels that will form the stitch and glue boat. For this boat we used the plans for the prototype Crawdad bottom, and side panels were modified from a previous build.

Apr 23, 2020 · We have too many options and choices when we build ourselves. If we go to buy a boat, our options are much more limited. Reminds me of a woman buying (really, shopping for) shoes. Put two pairs in front of her, and she’ll buy one. Put …
Building an Uncle John's Pirogue | SouthernPaddler.com
Nov 9, 2008 · Hello, all- I have received my plans from Uncle John and will start building a pirogue very soon. This will be my third plywood boat, and I can see that it will be the simplest that I have built. The ones I've built previously were a Bolger Nymph (8ft long multi-chine stitch and glue dingy) and a Michelak Roar II (14ft multi-chine row boat).
The Bayou Skiff is 14' long, 32 1/2" bottom, 43" beam.
Oct 28, 2009 · The Uncle John Pirogue is a good boat to make and learn the principals of building a wood boat. Then the best part is you have a boat to use while building another wood boat. Some folks have gone as far as to make a 25 sailboat that sleeps 6 after making a pirogue. ( Most of us just pick on Matt for a multi paneled paddling craft)
