pKa, pH, and whether it is protonated or deprotonated?
Feb 3, 2016 · I like to think of it like this: the pKa is the pH at which 50% of the ionizable groups are deprotonated. Anything below the pKa of the group means the group is protonated, (low pH means acidic conditions, and acids give protons) any pH above the pKa is deprotonated (high pH means basic conditions, and bases steal protons)

Aug 2, 2018 · I definitely have. When your 14-17 you find wings disgusting story’s funny. But like most of us who have grown up watching PKA, you mature and realise he’s just a sad man telling lies and being disgusting for shock value.
Can someone explain something about pKa values to me?
Sep 15, 2012 · The pKa is simply the pH at which half the acid is in its protonated form. For strong acids like the ones you listed, even at 0 pH less than half of the acid will be protonated. A strong acid really 'wants' to be dissociated and you need a very concentrated acidic solution to convince it …
What the hell is PKa and how is it different to pH? (Gold for
Apr 15, 2014 · As since Ka values span many orders of magnitude, in order to avoid unwieldy scientific notation,, pKa is frequently given instead, where: pKa = -log(Ka) Thus, pKa is just a more compact way to state the Ka of an acid. Because it is the negative log (base 10) of the Ka, the lower the pKa, the stronger the acid.
pI, pKa, pH : r/Mcat - Reddit
May 19, 2023 · A LOW pKa is a STRONG acid, so a HIGH pKa is a WEAK acid. I like to remember that pKa and Ka are opposites: if pKa is low, Ka will be high. pH: tells you whether something is acidic or basic. acidic conditions would range from 0 - 6, basic controls would range from 8 - 14, and neutral is always 7. there are a few ways you can think of pH. there ...

Nov 16, 2022 · Thus pKa 2 will be a value that is part of the pI calculation. If we move past the next pKa value (3), we will deprotonate the side chain to COO-, adding another negative charge, making the net charge -1. Now we have stopped being a zwitterion and thus this will be the next and final pKa value to be used for pI calculations. pI = 2+3/2 =2.5
Could someone help explain to me pKa strongest acid vs pKa
Aug 11, 2017 · I assume it means the pKa of the conjugate acid of the most basic functional group in the molecule, which is probably a ketone. Negative pKa's mean the group is strongly acidic. HCl has a pKa of -7, which is not surprising, since it is a strong acid.
