After arriving at Frankfurt from Dubai on the Lufthansa B747-400, I made my way to Lufthansa First Class Terminal. This is not just a first-class lounge but a completely separate terminal with restaurant dining, a shower and bedroom facility, cigar room, and possibly the world’s largest whisky selection in the bar. I rode a Porsche Panamera as part of the Lufthansa first class lounge transfer to the plane. To my surprise, the Frankfurt to Los Angeles flight is operated by B747-8 in Retro livery (D-ABYT). Once onboard, I received the full Lufthansa First Class treatment in welcome amenities and champagne. After a nice takeoff with an engine view, I sat back to relax and enjoy First Class dining with caviar and a shot of vodka, followed by starters and sea bass as a main course. First Class on the Boeing 747-8 was in the nose area with good privacy. Seat 1A was even in front of the cockpit! Enjoy the nice view over Greenland and Western USA before arriving in Los Angeles. It was a great ride with great service. At the end of the flight, I shared a good tip on how to fly Lufthansa First Class without breaking the bank.

There aren't many experiences better than Lufthansa First Class in the skies! I finally got around to ticking off this incredible trip on their 747-8i all the way down to Johannesburg from Frankfurt!

I flew on Lufthansa B747-8 from Los Angeles to Germany to see their new "Allegris" cabin product launch. The current Lufthansa Business Class seats have some shortcomings and lack privacy. I flew on the upper deck of the legendary B747. Lufthansa unveiled its €2.5 Billion cabin upgrade program "Allegris". The most impressive product is on Lufthansa First Class which features a floor-to-ceiling double suite in the middle. The suite can convert into a double bed with a 43" TV screen. Lufthansa's new Business Class also features a 2m long bed and suite. There are up to 7 different seat configurations in Business Class. Watch the video for the details. Less impressive are the Premium Economy and Economy, those are fairly standard and without much improvement in my opinion. This video discusses the less-than-smooth rollout of the new Allegris 787 business class cabins for Lufthansa. The seats have not yet attaind FAA approval and the airline is considering operating the aircraft anyways (leaving these already-installed seats empty until they can be certified).
