The iconic ridge of the Black Cuillin is the UK’s most challenging mountain range. Over 11 kilometres long and above 3,000 feet in places, the ridge contains 11 Munros and 16 other summits.

Jun 25, 2012 · The Harvey's map "Skye The Cuillin" is the best map and is printed on waterproof paper. It's at 1:25,000 but has the main ridge at 1:12,500 scale and also describes common routes on the sides of the main ridge.

The Cuillin (Scottish Gaelic: An Cuiltheann) [2] is a range of mostly jagged rocky mountains on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. The main Cuillin ridge is also called the Black Cuillin[3] to distinguish it from the Red Cuillin (na Beanntan Dearga), which lie to the east of Glen Sligachan. [4]

The Harvey's Superwalker map of the Skye Cuillin is highly recommended. Alternatively, hire a guide to lead you around the ridge. The Highland Mountain Company offers different types of experiences on the Cuillin ridge, including a Cuillin Ridge Traverse over two days and a Skye Cuillin Munros 4-day course.

The Cuillin Ridge Traverse - Britain’s finest mountaineering challenge The most highly recommended are Skye The Cuillin by Harvey’s Maps and an appendix at the end of the superb book The Cuillin by Gordon Stainforth. Twenty-two peaks lie in a continuous chain stretching over twelve kilometres.

Apr 1, 2025 · Proceed cautiously on this 15.2-mile point--point trail near Isle Of Skye, Highlands. Generally considered a highly challenging route, it should only be attempted by experienced adventurers. This trail is great for backpacking, hiking, and rock climbing, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.

By far the most useful and most accruate map is the Harvey's map of The Cuillin (see right). The peaks and other landmarks are clearly shown on the 1:12 500 map of the ridge and appear to be marked accurately.
