The Majumder–Zia family (Bengali: মজুমদার–জিয়া পরিবার), or simply the Zia family (জিয়া পরিবার), is one of the two most prominent Bangladeshi political families, alongside the Sheikh family, it leads the Bangladesh Nationalist Party.

Ayub Khan's highly successful military rule from 1958 to 1968 further convinced Zia of the need for a fundamental change in the Bengali attitude towards the military. During that period Zia offered a role model for Bengali youth, excelling in his army career.

In 1960, she married Ziaur Rahman who went on to become the 7th President of Bangladesh in 1977. Her husband, Ziaur Rahman ruled until 1981 when in a military coup, he was assassinated. After her husband’s demise, Khaleda Zia became head of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, which was founded by Ziaur Rahman in 1970.
