Zhi Lin received the B.E. and M.E. degrees in information and communication engineering from the PLA University of Science and Technology in 2013 and 2016, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in electronic science and technology from the Army Engineering University of PLA, Nanjing, China, in 2020.

May 4, 2019 · Zhi Lin’s mixed-media canvases, video installation, and watercolor paintings honor the nearly 1,200 Chinese workers who lost their lives to accidents, avalanches, and explosions in treacherous Sierra terrain near Donner Summit.

Zhi is currently an associate professor of painting and drawing at the University of Washington School of Art. He has lived and worked in Seattle since 2001.

Outstanding among them is the Chinese-American painter Zhi Lin, whose Old Master methods are strikingly pure. Lin’s genuinely monumental canvases—tragic, solemn, and free of irony—rival the grandes machines of the old Parisian salons in their drama and gravity.

Mar 3, 2017 · Presently, Zhi Lin is a Professor, Painting + Drawing and the Floyd and Delores Jones Endowed Professor in the Arts at the University of Washington in Seattle. Since 2001, he has also served on the faculty of the School of Art and the China Studies Program at UW.

Zhi Lin, a native of China, has shown his paintings and prints in Great Britain, China and the United States, primarily in college venues in keeping with his commitment to education. Begun three years after the Tiananmen Square massacre, Zhi Lin focused on a series of paintings about brutal torture methods used in China for centuries.
