Yondu's prototype fin is similar to his comics counterpart's fin. Before the Guardians of the Galaxy met Ego, Drax was convinced that Yondu was Star-Lord 's biological father.

Having developed a second controller, much larger and resembling an aquatic creature's fin, Yondu Udonta eventually used it, with the help of Rocket and Groot, to escape captivity and kill the Ravager mutineers.

Jul 31, 2014 · After Yondu's death, the control fin was incinerated along with the body, but a second control fin came into the possession of Kraglin who used it to experiment with the freshly repaired yaka arrow.

Yondu Udonta appears in media set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), portrayed by Michael Rooker. This version is a cyborg space pirate whose Yaka arrow is controlled by a head-mounted fin in addition to whistling.

The prototype fin Yondu keeps is based on his fin from the original comics. Yondu serves as an opposite to Thanos, another villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Apr 15, 2018 · Yondu’s Yaka Arrow has a legitimate claim to be the most powerful non-Infinity Stone weapon in the entire MCU. With Yondu’s new fin, he was easily able to decimate his entire faction of Ravagers with minimal help from Rocket.

Yondu was cremated with his fin on. So either he did what 99.9 percent of the audience thinks he did and just get a new fin. Or he went back, pulled the fin off of his dead leader, and then implanted it on his own head.
