Yiran Liu, from Tianjin, China and Ann Arbor, Michigan, is pursuing a PhD at the Stanford School of Medicine. She received a bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan (UM), where she studied cellular and molecular biology, and law, justice, and social change.

My doctoral research investigates molecular- to population-level determinants of infectious diseases and mortality. At the molecular level, I integrate heterogeneous data sources to identify generalizable gene signatures of immunity and infection severity.

Dr Yiran Liu is currently a Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, School of Engineering at the University of Western Australia (UWA) since 2023, previously she was a Postdoctoral Fellow (2021-2023) at University of New South Wales (UNSW).

As a Knight-Hennessy Scholar, Yiran will receive full funding for up to three years of graduate education at Stanford and participate in a variety of supplementary programs to develop her future leadership skills. Yiran plans to pursue a PhD in cancer biology at Stanford School of Medicine.
