My name is Yiran Cao, Carol. I obtained my Ph.D. degree in Economics in 2022 from Lingnan University, Hong Kong. I am currently an Assistant Professor at Jinan University, Guangzhou. We establish a synergy-effect test for evaluating the competitive impact of start-up acquisitions. An acquisition is welfare-enhancing if and only if the level of synergy effect exceeds a threshold which is proportionate to the unilateral effect in the post-R&D product market.

Currently, he is a Ph.D. student at Eindhoven University in the Micro Flow Chemistry & Synthetic Methodology group under the supervision of associate prof. Timothy Noël. He is now working on organic synthesis, machine learning and CFD simulation in flow electrochemistry.
