Yig, the Father of Serpents, is a fictional deity introduced in the H. P. Lovecraft revision story "The Curse of Yig". He is introduced as "the snake-god of the central plains tribes," and "a shunned and feared object in central Oklahoma."

Yig is the Great Old One of cycles, procreation, and serpents. He is undoubtedly the least evil among all Great Old Ones and Outer Gods, but he is still a terrifying deity willing to devour his own worshippers if he is hungry. 1

In 1889, a couple arriving in Oklahoma learn about local legends of a "snake god" called Yig. According to the legends, Yig takes vengeance on anyone who kills a serpent, either by killing them or turning them into a half-snake monster.
