Yeast Suggestions for a Tropical Stout? - Homebrew Talk
Feb 18, 2016 · Tropical Stout A) is traditionally/typically brewed with a warm-fermented lager yeast and B) is *supposed* to have a fruity ester character. So, instead of asking for the Baltic Porter kit without yeast, which potentially complicates things, I was thinking I'd use the lager yeast from it to brew my tropical stout.

Yeast Energizer? How is the best way to use it? - Homebrew Talk
Dec 28, 2007 · The Original Gravity was 1.065, and it would seem the yeast has begun to slow to a halt as far as fermentation goes. Best practice, is it better to transfer the beer into the secondary fermenter and add a teaspoon of yeast energizer to the secondary and skim some yeast off the bottom of the primary to mix into the secondary?
Lager yeast starter - Homebrew Talk
Oct 3, 2008 · A temperature around the low 70s (72°F, 22°C) strikes the best balance for the propagation of yeasts. Lager yeast starters can be kept a few degrees cooler and ale yeasts can be kept a few degrees warmer, but this temperature strikes a good balance of yeast health and efficient propagation for both types of yeast.
Your opinions on Safale S04 - Homebrew Talk
Jan 11, 2014 · I think overall I liked 04 over 05 yeast, I really didnt think there was alot of difference in yeast character. I do think its clearer and maybe attenuates a little better. However Ive mainly brewed with 05 yeast as far as dry and wonder why. I think I ferment them in too clean a temp to fully capture the yeasts esters though.
Any low tolerance yeasts? 5-10% alcohol - Homebrew Talk
Jun 26, 2018 · Look at the Wyeast sweet mead yeast strain. It will leave some sweet behind (2-3% sugars) even if you don't go to it's tolerance level. I've used it in cider batches that went to about 6% ABV and had a light sweet finish to them. I plan to use that yeast in my next batch of mead (probably no more than 10% ABV target).

Dry Yeast for Scottish Ale - Homebrew Talk
Dec 25, 2011 · 1) Proper yeast. Liquid yeast isn't an option for me (long shipping overseas, etc), and my kit came with Safale S-04. I also have ingredients for EdWort's Haus Pale Ale, and picked up a package of Nottingham to use with that. Recipes I've seen online sometimes use S-04, sometimes Nottingham, sometimes S-05.
Cleanest Ale Yeast - Homebrew Talk
Feb 15, 2010 · I am currently fermenting 12 lbs. of German Pils with an ale yeast and am keeping it cool, hoping for a clean clear beer (.75 oz Magnum for bittering and 2 oz of Saaz for flavor/aroma). I chilled the wort to 45 degrees and put it in a water bath, also at 45, before pitching with rehydrated US-05 -- I love Boston water, especially in the winter.
