Aug 19, 2009 · It is good that you are concerned with preventing problems, but if everything is in working order, and with minimal maintenance, you have a reliable bike. I would tighten up everything (spokes, engine mounts, etc... not cylinder bolts) and lube axles, steering head and put new oil in the suspension.

Contact a Yamaha dealer with the frame and engine #'s . They have a microfiche they can use to ID the motorcycle year and model. If all you have is the motor # only , they may only be able to ID early Yamaha's from the 1970's.
