Sep 8, 2012 · Recently I had the good fortune to run into a free CR-450. This is my first experience with Yamaha and a search for info for this unit quickly revealed that relatively little is known about it. The consensus seems to be this was an update of the CR400 to better handle 4ohm speakers, and precedes the x20 and x40 families.

Aug 26, 2022 · Hey gang I recently picked up a decent shape Yamaha CR 450. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it sounds with my Polk Monitor 7b's hooked up, what a nice little receiver, punches way above it's weight! Clean and clear! Needs slight clean up and detoxit on the volume knob. Great little receiver. Feel free to share your thoughts.

I have a CR-1020 and an HK 330c, both awaiting time on the bench, so I responded to a CL ad for this Yamaha, intending to use it while I put together the other receivers. Oct 8, 2024 · I understand that the CR-450 was made to replace the CR-420 because the 420's had trouble with 4 ohms speaker cooking the amp transistors. The 450 is rated down to 4 ohms (35 watts at 8ohms); however, it tested up to 50 watts at 8 ohms before there was any clipping.

I sold it to my aunt to use in her shop and it only lasted 3 months until it started blowing power fuses. When I picked it up to take home and look over, I noticed my cousin had wired some extra outside speakers into it in series.

May 1, 2024 · Red-black 63.9K and blue-black 64.8K. Some discrepancy, but not as big as the output is showing. The green highlights are not ground, if you follow the traces they join up with red and blue signals after the volume control.

Dec 10, 2010 · The CR-450 and CR-1000 came along later. The next series were the CR-220, CR420, CR-620, CR820, CR-1020 and CR-2020. The CR-3020 was a one-of and not really part of the CR-n20 lineup although it kept the styling of that lineup but used the shroud style case of the oncoming CR-n40 series.
