Aug 20, 2013 · I know on the last generation (pre-2010) the YZ450F and WR450F were almost identical. The cam timing was different to take some of the "hit" out for the WR, and the WR came with electric start and wider gear ratios. The YZ came with stiffer suspension as well.

Overall, both the YZ450FX and WR450F are quite similar, yet different machines and each caters to a different market. If plans are to hit big jumps or race at high speeds (especially desert racing), then the FX is the more adept bike.
