The gen3, gen3.5 MT-09, and gen2 XSR900 share the frame and engine so there is no difference in terms of pure performance. The gen2 XSR has a longer swingarm making the bike more stable in the corner and less prone to wheely.

I guess everything is relative, and since my very first motorcycle encounters involved a mid-nineties 300cc two stroke dirt bike, the CP3 has always struck me as positively docile below 6K rpm (even in comparison to my 650cc single cylinder dual sports and the handful of 4 cylinder super sports I've ridden).

Mar 5, 2021 · The XSR900 is about 430 lb with 105hp and 55 tq. The XSR700 is about 410 lb weight with 65 hp and 45 tq. Weight difference is a wash, but the horsepower difference is significant. Honestly I think either of these would be great but IMO you'll regret not going with the XSR900. Especially since you're coming from a 600 already.

Nov 27, 2021 · I ride the XSR900 2020 and the MT09 2018, the biggest difference is the seating position and seat height. With the MT09 you are right by the tank and sit very close to the front wheel. Similar to a supermoto and on the xmXSR900 you sit a few cm further back, more like a typical naked bike. Tight corners are easier to ride with the mt09.

The XSR900 is the "better" bike, the Z900rs is the "traditional" bike. Neither are bad, but they aren't really direct comparisons. XSR is a modern bike with classic cues, not a modern classic. I feel like the XSR900 has plenty of power below 5k.... but it REALLY wakes up above that.
