Sep 3, 2012 · the xr600 has a different rear shock than the xrl shock, mostly in the shim stacks(i have a revalved xrl shock in my xr600) the xrl has a heavier flywheel. you have a starter and assorted gears adding weight. you have a battery and 12volt dc kit on adding more weight. you have a bunch of brackets and safety gear and emission crap,

Nov 5, 2009 · The '88+ XR600 uses the same cylinder head, cam, rockers, valves, springs, etc, as the 650L. There is nothing to be gained by swapping. The only difference is that the 600's head cover has a manual compression release over the right exhaust valve. Go with your original plan of a piston and cam.

Came across a 98 XR600 that is reasonably priced and wondering the differences between the two - trail riding, street riding, etc. Is it that much better on the road - but less attractive on the trail.

Apr 26, 2018 · I have a 93 XR600 and I am running a Baja Designs Squadron Pro as a headlight with their reg/rec installed inline. When I am idling my headlight pulses and I would prefer not to ride like that on the street.

Apr 16, 2017 · Bought the exact pictured fairing from African Queens. Originally for an XR600, Im adapting my XRL to fit. Requires relocation of speedometer, but I think the modifications are worth it. Looks damn good even being unfinished.

Sep 10, 2020 · The easiest way to do the fork swap onto an XR600R is as follows: Buy forks, front wheel, and triple clamps, and stem from basically any modern CR125, CR250, CRF250R, or CRF450R (other stems work too, as long as they have a 30mm stem diameter for the top and bottom stem bearings)

I hear also tales of the XR600 doing the same but hard to confirm, no real speedo/odo.
