Sep 19, 2012 · I am presently looking at a bass boat that has a 2004 Mercury XR6 150 HP engine. How are these engines? Do I mix the oil with the gas or does it have a reservoir. Does it have a water separator filter? Thanks, Andy

Jun 7, 2007 · The XR6 is an "optimized" 2.5L 150 carb motor, with some minor changes from the regular 150, and also a smaller-diameter gearcase. The XRi is an EFI motor, using most of the same fuel delivery system that originally came out on the "LASER 220" in '86 or '87, I believe.

Jan 17, 2012 · I am about to purchase a 2002 Mercury XR6 150hp. I need to know what the compression should be on all cyl? Do you need to pull the Kill switch to ground out all spark first? Oct 31, 2019 · Happened when they originally rigged out the boat. The XR6 is a fuel injected 2.5 liter version. IMO it is the undisputed king of the 2 stroke 150 hp class. Keep it oiled and find a good mercury mechanic to go thru or eliminate the oil injection system. You'll get a lot of hours outta that motor.
