The XM177 was the Air Force issue variant and lacked a forward assist. The XM177E1 was the Army version and was equipped with a tear drop pattern forward assist.

The parts are pretty much totally wrong other than the Griffin Armament "moderator" (actually a linear comp with the exact same exterior dimensions as a real XM177 moderator), but the configuration is lightweight, easy to shoot, and gets close enough to let me enjoy a version of one of my favorite all-time ARs.
