Wynona Croft Mulcaster (April 10, 1915 – August 25, 2016) was a Canadian painter and teacher from Saskatchewan, best known for her prairie landscapes. She also played an important role in developing competitive riding in Saskatoon.

Feb 9, 2024 · University of Saskatchewan (USask) graduate Wynona Croft Mulcaster (BA’43) played an integral role in shaping the history of art and art education in the province. Now, eight years after her death in 2016 at the age of 101, an exhibition at the Kenderdine Art Gallery is paying tribute to her legacy.

Wynona Mulcaster. Wynona Mulcaster was born in 1915 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She studied art with Ernest Lindner from 1935 to 1945, earning her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon in 1943.

Wynona “Nonie” Mulcaster lived her life equally devoted to three pursuits: horses, art, and education. She recalls how her desire to create art was challenged when, in Grade 2, she was caught drawing in class.

This exhibition examines the artistic career of Wynona Mulcaster (1915-2016), affectionately known to most as ‘Nonie’. Through a survey of landscape paintings on both canvas and paper, Mulcaster depicts two places that she considered to be home: Mexico and Saskatchewan.
