Chief Petty Officer Sergey Rozhenko found Worf in the rubble and took him in after failing to find any living relatives. Rozhenko and his wife Helena raised him on a small farm colony on the planet Gault, a world of about 20,000 inhabitants, almost all of them human.

Nikolai Sergeyevich Rozhenko was a Human cultural observer in the 24th century United Federation of Planets. Nikolai was the only biological child of Sergey and Helena Rozhenko. In 2347, he became the foster brother of a Klingon child named Worf.

Alexander Rozhenko, also known as Alexander, son of Worf, was the son of Starfleet then-Lieutenant Worf and Federation Ambassador K'Ehleyr; thus he was three-quarters Klingon. He was a member of the House of Mogh and the House of Martok.

Worf was discovered buried in the rubble of his family's residence by a Starfleet officer named Sergey Rozhenko, and it was determined that he had suffered some brain damage, losing part of his memory. Rozhenko spent much of his off-duty time with Worf, aiding in his recovery.

This question has bothered me for years; Worf was raised by those Russian earthlings, but he is never referred to as "Worf Rozhenko," only "Worf, son of Mogh"...then why is his son called "Alexander Rozhenko" and not "Alexander, son of Worf?"
