Dec 21, 2020 · I have recently been using TECBEARS wood PLA and have been printing it at 205C 0.2mm layers using a 0.4mm nozzle. I set my retraction up to 7mm (CR10 bowden setup) to get a handle on stringing. I print at 50 mm/s with the initial layer at 20 mm/s and the wall speed at 25 mm/s (which are my normal PLA print speeds).

I couldn't believe the results! So here are my best tips for staining wood PLA. First of all, filaments with actual wood do stain better.

Apr 17, 2020 · Definitely change to 0.6 nozzle size - this helps as the wood PLA has chunks of wood in it and is not evenly dispersed through the PLA. Wood PLA is hard on the extruded components as well - get the upgraded aluminum kit from amazon.

Jan 17, 2023 · I have done excessive printing with Wood filament in my X1cc's. Yes, .4mm nozzles are more prone to clogging than .6mm. However, i think it is more dependant on the filament you choose. I have printed with Amolen, Hatchbox, and 3DbestQ wood filament. Amolen is by far the better of them all in my opinion.

I used the MG Chemicals wood PLA to make a chess board (pattern was thing:869704 on thingiverse, but I did it without the hinge in the middle and scaled the squares up to 160% in Cura). I printed all of the squares using the wood PLA, then sanded, stained two different colors, and sprayed with acrylic clear coat.
My best wood PLA prints to date. The key is sanding and staining.
Sep 3, 2021 · The pictures don't do them justice. IRL they look like real wood pieces. These were printed with Hatchbox Wood PLA. For more info on settings and how I got my results check out this previous post. The key to getting good results with wood PLA is to sand and stain the items. Darker stains work better than lighter colored ones.
