May 5, 2024 · Wolmido is famous around Korea for a few things. One, for being the perfect quick getaway for a date day outside of Seoul, and two, for being a popular K-Drama filming spot. With delicious local restaurants, plenty of fun carnival rides and games, and beautiful views of the coast - there's plenty to do even if you're just visiting for the day.

It may be a popular attraction years ago, but Wolmido is now a deserted place with minimal visitors. The waterfront boardwalk, quite reminiscent of Atlantic City, is sleepy at night.

Wolmido Island has very few historical records, despite being the location of a temporary palace, built in 1653 during the reign of King Hyojong. The palace was built on the eastern side of the island, but it is impossible to find traces of it now.
