Daam1 (Dishevelled Associated Activator of Morphogenesis 1) is a Diaphanous-related Formin homology (DRF) protein that functions through the non-canonical Wnt/PCP pathway. It is regulated in part by Wnt ligands through Frizzled receptors and Dishevelled [ 19 ].

The protein encoded by this gene contains FH domains and belongs to a novel FH protein subfamily implicated in cell polarity. Wnt/Fz signaling activates the small GTPase Rho, a key regulator of cytoskeleton architecture, to control cell polarity and movement during development.

Profilin1 binds to the FH1 domain of Daam1 and colocalizes with Daam1 to actin stress fibers in response to Wnt stimulation.
