Medium Wave AM Broadcast Band Resonant Loop Antenna.
Medium Wave (MW) AM broadcast band loop antenna. Built using cheap 4 pair (8 wire) telephone 'ribbon' cable,& (optionally) housed in cheap garden 13mm (~half inch) irrigation plastic hose.
Notes On Mediumwave Loops And Wire Antennas - Blogger
Feb 3, 2019 · Hard-wire a square loop to the first DSP radio (ferrite removed). This DSP radio tunes the loop in place of a 365 pF variable capacitor if you don't have a spare, sort of a "digitally tuned passive loop".
Once the cardboard box frame has been marked and the edge slits cut, the wire loop can be wound onto the frame. Use 20-25m of wire for 550-1100 kHz range, or 15-20m of wire for 1000-1700 kHz range.
Build a loop antenna for medium wave reception - Page 1
Sep 23, 2024 · I need to know one thing about making a small loop antenna using the LC and coil inductance formula. The solenoid inductance formula is shown in the attached file.
Dave's Homemade Loop Antennas - IW5EDI Simone - Ham-Radio
These loops are made to enhance radio reception in the broadcast, or medium wave (MW) band range. Some of the loops are just one coil, some have tuning capacitors and some have an extra coupling coil. Read on and discover the fantasy of loop antennas. Or fetish in my case.
This publication describes different loop antennas which can be constructed to operate on long wave, medium wave, or short wave. They are all similar in design and operating principle.

Mar 28, 2025 · How can you vastly improve your Medium Wave reception? its quite simple really, all you need is 120 foot of wire, a few lengths of timber and an old tuning capacitor with which you can build the answer to every DX'ers prayers, a tuned loop antenna.
How To Build a Mediumwave Antenna – The SWLing Post
Another great advantage for someone wishing to perform this loopstick upgrade are the perfectly located, highly accessible Litz wire connections on the RF circuit board—apparently used by the Chinese engineers to conveniently test out various loopsticks, and retained in the final product.
4: MW Aerials – Antennas – Medium Wave Circle
It is highly desirable for medium wave aerials to have a distinct directivity pattern so that desired signals can be selectively boosted and unwanted signals (or interference) can be nulled and sometimes completely eliminated. The simplest antenna designs are are a vertical whip or a loop.
Construction of Wire Loop Antennas – Practical Antennas
Mar 5, 2021 · There are a few basic construction methods for wire loop antennas: None of these need to be particularly difficult to build, although multi-element versions at HF can be mechanically complex. Solid wire in the 1.5mm to 4mm (AWG #6 to AWG #14) range is often stiff enough to be used with minimal supports at VHF / UHF.
