The company that produces Windex has also come out with other formulas - one with vinegar and another called "dripless". The only one that has been suggested for cleaning printheads is the original with what they call "ammonia-D", otherwise known as ammonia.

Dec 8, 2008 · I.P.A (not India Pale Ale) is difficult to get in UK as is Windex, a seemingly USA/Canadian Brand. Does anyone have experience of using a window cleaner brand available in UK similar to Windex. Clear Blue in colour and containing ammonia and perhaps alchohol seems to be the requirement although the blue colour may well be irrelevant.

Aug 25, 2020 · These printheads were soaked and rinsed for three weeks initially intended to be days but other things came up and they were put into the backseat. Soaking solution consisted of initially Windex as well as a much stronger solution of LA Awesome cleaner with a dilution ratio of approx 1:20 parts water or less.

Mar 5, 2007 · The Windex that's oft trotted out as a good printhead cleaning solution is the one that in the USA contains Ammonia... Here in the good old UK, we apparently can't use the stuff because we're too stupid to read the labels or realise that breathing it in too much could seriously damage us (eg: death).

Several articles floating out on the web have discussed using a homemade Windex (or ammonia) solution, in refillable OEM compatible cartridges, as a method for cleaning a stylus pro 4000.

Sep 9, 2022 · Depending on the composition of the cleaning liquid, leaving it for long periods of time might be risky. Ammonia attacks copper and other metals, albeit slowly. The percentaje of ammonia in Windex and similar products is low, but even so I wouldn't take the chance. For long, long soakings I'd rather use distilled water with some drops of dish soap.
