Jul 9, 2010 · 'The new slim-fit Polo is similar in shape to the custom-fit Polo. A little slimmer on the body, about 1inch difference in all. The main difference is the fact that it is about 2.5 inches in length shorter than the custom-fit Polo, also the hem at the back is longer than the front, but again a less pronounced difference than on the custom fit.

In fact, this whole slim-fit things is getting out-of-hand. You want a shirt without a lot of excess cloth. But there's no reason to put on a shirt that looks spray-painted on you.

Per LE's description of the slim fit, that seems to imply that 16.5 in slim would have the same waist as a 16 in tailored, but the 16.5 would have an added 1/2inch at the chest.

The OP is setting up a straw man by implying that slim fit means something along the line of "tight fitting, skinny lapel. too short in every measurement". That's not the case. The major problem with the two suits that he pictured is simply that they are a poor fit, too small in the chest.

The gray fits much better in general, but in purchasing the navy flannel, I wanted it a bit more classic in the leg, and to fall cleanly. The gray is just slightly too slim for that.
