Aug 27, 2021 · For NMM, you need high contrast. If you look at the gun barrel in that first picture, you'll see that metals & TMM paints have a much darker grey/black than you're going with the grey on the plate & axe, which are all fairly similar values.

Use reference from other people’s models, almost every model has been painted with NMM by a great painter on Instagram. Steal from what they do! Once the model is primed take a photo of it under strong lighting. Where the light lands will help show you where to place the highlights (example of this below)
