Feb 5, 2019 · One of the possible effects of the wand of wonder magic item is (emphasis mine): You enlarge the target as if you had cast enlarge/reduce. If the target can't be affected by the spell, or if you didn't target a creature, you become the target. There are multiple possible effects for the wand of wonder that use a similar wording.

This effect is non-optional and more specific than the general rule against casting non-cantrip spells in the same turn as bonus action spells. You are not using your action to cast a spell, but to select a target.

Sometimes you'll end up with large clumps of good or bad effects (actual randomness is a lot clumpier than most folks realize), sometimes they'll basically alternate. Or instead of "can increase roll by 1", make it "roll twice and choose".

Say that a creature uses a magic wand to cast a spell (e.g. Entangle). If the user is hit, do they need to make a Con saving throw to maintain concentration on the spell?

One player in my campaign just used the Wand of Wonder and got the effect: 66-69 — You shrink yourself as if you had cast enlarge/reduce on yourself. Enlarge/reduce has a duration of: Concentration, up to 1 minute Does the effect last the full minute, or can you end the effect early?

Aug 19, 2019 · Here's my issue: Given my remaining time, money, and the fact that I can craft wands, specifically, at 1/4 the time and half the cost, I can craft exactly ONE wand of Rare quality. I was considering the Wand of Wonder, which my DM finds delightful.
