Dec 30, 2003 · Rope was issued in pretty long lengths and would have been cut to suit. My guess is you are looking though for the generally accepted length today that "looks good" on the front bumper. I believe that is 24 feet in length, overall length will be less once the eyes have been made on both ends.

Jul 28, 2010 · Since no one had posted a good "how to" for jeep rope construction, I opted for the very stong and professional looking one-time purchase. Willys MB 236426, Hood 20336549, DOD 5-20-43 Piper L-4A "Grasshopper", Sn. 10371, USAAF 43-29080, DOD 5-28-43

Aug 10, 2004 · How to make a tow ropei s on my web site. At the bottom of the page is the documentation that I found related to the tow rope. You want 24 feet in order to end up with a tow rope that is a about 20 or so feet in length...a more usable length. Though honestly I wouldn't recommend actually using these ropes for towing today. A great decoration.

Dec 17, 2020 · Nowadays I think the ropes are jeep "bling", just like bridge plates, especially on the M38. And the rope will likely rot off the bumper long before it ever gets used. Mostly a WW2 thing me thinks, but I have a photo from 1951 with my Dad in North Korea standing in front of a MB/GPW with a rope coiled on the bumper.

Mar 31, 2005 · I had bought a Manila Rope for my Slat Grill. Rope is 1" x 20 feet. I was surprised to see how big is this rope. I tried to put it on my Slat front bumper, but I guess something is wrong with the rope or I put it in a wrong way It looks too long. It´s 1" correct for a Jeep or must be 3/4" ? I read that 1" rope was for a 3/4 Tons Dodge trucks.

Dec 3, 2007 · It's the same as WW2 Jeeps- a 25' long rope, eyelets at each end, from about 28' of rope to give enough extra for the eyelets and splicing. The rope is 1" diameter- the only visible difference is that modern manila rope has colored threads woven in but WW2 type rope didn't. Not really noticable but that's what's available.
