Feb 11, 2025 · More recently, the locomotive has taken on a loaded test run of 8 empty WHR saloons, where the locomotive proved the master of the winter railway, with no sanding required on the 1-in-40 grades. The loaded test run was also proving that the locomotive’s newly completed spark arrestor worked fine.

134 is an NG15 Locomotive currently being rebuilt for use on the Welsh Highland Railway. 134 was built by Société Anglo-Franco-Belge for South African Railways (SAR) to their NG15 class 2-8-2 design. It is from the third batch of NG15s built in 1952 and carries builder's number 2684.

Sep 13, 2024 · It’s a big week for the ‘Kalahari’ team at Dinas as the newly restored NG15- 134 joins in Super-Power Weekend for the first time. While K1, the original FfWHR Garratt travels the line the NG15 –134 is scheduled to make her debut in steam at Dinas. The restoration work has spanned 25 years. Adrian Strachan spoke to us ahead of the event:

The locomotive is being restored to working order at the Welsh Highland Railway's Dinas works. It is a restoration process with much of the work being conducted by volunteers with extra skilled machining help being provided by the company.
