Oct 20, 2024 · In the mid-1980s, the logo contained the full name, FIA Formula One World Championship. The phrase “WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP” was reduced, split into two lines, and placed in the center—between the three-letter acronym and the words “FORMULA ONE.”

We assembled a design and strategy team, led by W+K design lead, Richard Turley (whose past credits include redesigning Bloomberg Businessweek) to create the brand’s new visual identity, which includes logo, typography and brand behaviours.

The logo was unveiled during the award ceremony of the season's final race in Abu Dhabi on 26 November 2017, being part of a large revamp of Formula One after Liberty Media bought it earlier that year.

Created by a team led by Richard Turley at agency Wieden+Kennedy London, the project includes a new logo that replaces the ‘F1’ mark originally designed by studio Carter Wong in 1994.
