VP-4 is a P-8A Poseidon multi-mission maritime aircraft squadron that conducts anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare, intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and humanitarian response.

The Skinny Dragons proved AIP’s power during deployment by supporting three battlegroups in the Arabian Gulf, and becoming the first squadron to achieve reliable AIP imagery transfer. VP-4 was also the first squadron in the SEVENTH Fleet to fire the Maverick Missile from an AIP aircraft.

In November of 2020, Commander Shultz arrived at the Bureau of Naval Personnel (PERS-43) in Millington, TN to serve as the VP Placement Officer. While at PERS-43, he directly supported aviation officer policy, selection, distribution, and assignment functions for all of the Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Force.

In April of 2024, CDR Frankhouser reported to the VP-4 “Skinny Dragons” as Executive Officer. CDR Frankhouser has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours in the P-3C, EP-3E, and P-8A.

Master Chief Ogren returned to VP-4 in January 2024. Master Chief Ogren is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 201 and the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course Class 181.

The VP-4 OSC is a command-endorsed group open to spouses of all Commissioned and Warrant Officers in VP-4. It is a great way to meet other spouses, learn about your new duty station, and engage in charitable works in the community.

CPRW-10 is responsible for the training, maintenance and administrative support of its assigned VP and VQ squadrons.
