The sword is part of La'Zel's quest line and is actually gifted by Voss in Act 3 so you are not supposed to get it during the Act 1 bridge encounter. I consider the heat metal or command shenanigans cheating and since it will undermine tons of great 2h in both Act 1 and 2.

Step 2: Hirelings both move close to Voss. Fighter initiates disarming attack from invisibility using bardic inspiration for attack. Either Voss drops sword or wizard will get reaction to use portent due to force Voss to fail the disarming attack DC. Step 3: Talk with Voss, trigger fight Step 4: Pick up sword and transfer to main character.
